Nursing practice in the 2020s and beyond continues to be confronted by several challenges, increasing numbers of senior patients, spiraling healthcare costs, and nursing staff shortages. The persistent challenge in the list of these challenges is clinical observations that are poor, coupled with inadequate incorporation of theoretical concepts into nursing practice. The result is the emergence of an intangible theory-practice gap whose attributes include but are not limited to relational challenges within the university and clinical practice.
