Evidence-Based Evaluation Strategies-Nursing Paper Examples

DQ1 (Evidence-Based Evaluation-Nursing Paper Examples)

Evidence-based evaluation should be based on the needs of health research. Therefore, researchers should determine the study aim and hypothesis to define suitable variables. The selection of appropriate variables allows the study to propose optimal preferences and values effective for implementing an evidence-based project. My evidence-based project focuses on reducing HAIs among hospitalized patients (Evidence-Based Evaluation-Nursing Paper Examples).

Despite implementing other standard interventions, such as hand washing with soap and water, HAIs have remained problematic. My project aims to implement an evidence-based care bundle to reduce infections while improving care quality and patient safety (Evidence-Based Evaluation Strategies).

One of my project evaluation strategies will be determining the incidences of HAIs among hospitalized patients after implementing evidence-based care bundle intervention. Therefore, one of the dependent variables for my change project will be the rate of HAIs among hospitalized patients. The rate/incidence of HAIs is a dependent variable since it relies on the proposed intervention to increase or decrease (Siedlecki, 2020).

The dependent variable is significant for my project since HAIs can be reduced by implementing the evidence-based care bundle. The evidence-project expected outcome will be that primary prevention through alcohol-based sanitizers, early detection through screening the surveillance, case management, adoption, and sustainability of the proposed intervention will reduce HAIs in the hospital setting (García et al., 2022). A summative evaluation will be conducted four weeks after implanting the evidence-based care bundles to determine its effect on the rates of HAIs (Evidence-Based Evaluation-Nursing Paper Examples).

On the other hand, the primary independent variable for my evidence-based project will be the proposed intervention, which is the evidence-based care bundle. The evidence-based intervention is an independent variable since its change is not affected by any other variable in the study.

Implementation of the intervention determines the rates/incidences of HAIs. Other independent variables for the project may include the age and gender of the project. The proposed intervention is expected to reduce HAIs, thus improving patient outcomes. Evaluation will be instrumental in determining the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the intervention (Evidence-Based Evaluation-Nursing Paper Examples).

Healthcare researchers should analyze, integrate, and comprehend a study to implement evidence-based interventions in practice. Although researchers may interchangeably use statistical and clinical significance, comprehending their different effects on a study is instrumental as they are mutually exclusive. For instance, a project may be statistically significant but not clinically significant.

Clinical significance implies that a proposed intervention has a practical effect on patients and healthcare professionals, leading to positive, real, and measurable outcomes in a healthcare setting. For example, a clinically significant evidence-based project may reduce the patient’s symptoms (Evidence-Based Evaluation-Nursing Paper Examples).

On the contrary, statistical significance measures the probability that the results of a study are unlikely to have resulted from measurable and repeatable statistics. The significance portrays that potential differences in treatment and control group outcomes do not occur by chance alone (Andrade, 2019). Thus, different researchers can replicate and reproduce similar outcomes under similar circumstances.

In statistics, the P-value represents statistical significance. In this case, a P-value of 0.05 implies that a study’s likelihood of specific results is due by chance only by 5%. A study’s methodology, sample size, and internal validity significantly contribute to statistical significance. Proper project planning is vital to eliminate confounding variables that reduce statistical significance rendering a study a waste of time and resources (Evidence-Based Evaluation-Nursing Paper Examples).

On the contrary, clinical significance relates to the ability of the proposed intervention to promote quality care by improving patients’ physical function, mental status, and ability to be socially inclusive. In healthcare, improved quality of life is objectively related to improved life expectancy, body performance, and disease remission. At the same time, it is subjectively linked to improved attitude, mood, social activity, and mental well-being (Sharma, 2021) (Evidence-Based Evaluation-Nursing Paper Examples).

Clinically significant results can be applied to clinical practice to improve patient outcomes. Thus, I will evaluate the effect of an evidence-based care bundle on rates of HAIs, potential risks, and side effects to determine clinical significance. However, it is also vital to determine the statistical significance of my project since most statistically significant results are clinically significant (Evidence-Based Evaluation-Nursing Paper Examples).
