This week’s journal entry is focused on new practice approaches. I have acknowledged the need to address my weaknesses to enhance the quality of care I deliver to the patients. I gained personal knowledge to apply when executing my nursing practice. Ensuring that nurses can practice based on the philosophical underpinning of their profession is a key element of professional practice in nursing (Araki, 2019). Therefore, I have acknowledged the need to seek support from other colleagues when faced with problems during nursing practice (New Practice Approaches-Nursing Essay Examples).

One of my professional practice strengths is excellent communication skills. I can effectively communicate with my colleagues, patients, and their families, which allows me to understand the needs of my clients and address them effectively. Furthermore, I am empathetic when interacting with patients and their families. Consistent with the explanations by Powers et al. Furthermore, I am very flexible and can work in different environments depending on the situation involved. However, my major weaknesses include paying attention to detail and spending too much time on paperwork. As a nurse, I am always expected to interact directly with patients. Therefore, spending much time completing the paperwork limits my ability to interact with them and understand their needs. Paying too much attention to detail also limits my ability to deliver care to many patients per day as I spend much time on a single patient. I need support from experienced nurses and my organization to address my key weaknesses and improve my nursing outcomes.
