Summary of strengths:

The practicum has enabled me to gain and improve various aspects of PMHNP roles, such as effectively educating patients and the community about mental health problems and how to live with mentally ill individuals, as required by the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (2017). I can also conduct accurate mental health assessments and interviews, including correctly interpreting screening results to determine suitable interventions for various mental health conditions like schizophrenia and depression. Additionally, I can develop and prioritize mental health problems based on a differential diagnosis list, which is crucial in determining the type of interventions to implement first. In the practicum, I gained knowledge in developing individualized care plans for patients in different age groups, such as applying cognitive behavioral therapy for substance abuse disorders among youths. I need to improve on various aspects of PMHNP practice to enhance my role as a PMHNP nurse.
