One in five students reported experiencing bullying on school grounds within the previous year, according to data from two significant national surveys, the Youth Risk Behaviors Survey, which polled high school students, and the National Crime Victimization Survey: School Crime Supplement, which polled 12 to 18-year-olds (Kann et al., 2018). The impression of social prejudice in teenagers from minority cultural groups predicts mistrust of the majority culture. When adolescents from minority groups encounter racial and cultural discrimination, their expectations of what the institutions can provide are lowered. Bullying is a behavioral issue that needs an approach like nurse-led presentations that facilitate learning of emotional intelligence, self-regulation, relationship management, and self-awareness skills to help reduce bullying behavior. The proposed intervention seeks to reduce reported bullying incidences among adolescents, increase awareness of bullying, and facilitate social and emotional learning. First Objective: Reduce the Incidences of Reported Bullying

Bullying among children and adolescents is a significant public health issue. One in five students reported experiencing bullying on school grounds within the previous year, and one in six young people reported being victims of cyberbullying (Kann et al., 2018). Bullying can cause physical, psychological, social, or educational injury or discomfort to the targeted youth. Despite Healthy People 2020’s intention to lessen bullying among teenagers, the prevalence of physical and online bullying is still high. Hong et al. (2019) posit that bullying requires the concerted and coordinated time and attention of parents, educators, school administrators, and health care providers, including nurses, policymakers, families, and other parties involved in the care of children. PICOT Question

When caring for high school adolescent patients, does a nurse-led presentation on bullying compared to no intervention decrease reported bullying incidents within ten weeks?

Nurses, particularly school nurses, are in a position to recognize adolescent bullying victims via physical and psychosocial assessment. Nurses can take immediate action steps to intervene in potential or actual bullying.              The estimated prevalence of bullying victimization is 10% to 35% among teenagers reporting recurring bullying victimization (Moore et al., 2017). Although contextual and cultural variations affect prevalence estimates, varying assessment approaches often cause this variance. According to reports, a synthesis of traditional bullying and cyberbullying and a study of the variability in the prevalence of victimization due to bullying revealed a prevalence of 36% for traditional bullying victimization and 15% for cyberbullying victimization (Moore et al., 2017). Nurses can play a part in breaking the bullying loop. Nurses are ideally suited to take the lead in formulating sensible regulations, proactive campaigns to prevent teen bullying, and tactics to lessen or stop it.
