Reflect on the study plan you created in NRNP 6665. Did you accomplish your SMART goals? What areas of focus still present opportunities for growth? ( Preparation and Completion of SMART Goals)
The study plan has kept me on track toward completing my goals and associated tasks. It has also helped me organize my work and monitor my progress in preparation for my National Certification to become a PMHNP. The study plan I created in NRNP was an instrument for realizing my potential. The practice tests were successful, and I answered 65/74 questions correctly. The test allowed me to comprehend my strengths and areas of improvement. My significant strengths were effective communication skills with my clients and other healthcare professionals. Another strength was my ability to utilize evidence-based research to diagnose patients and identify their needs and potential intervention strategies (Preparation and Completion of SMART goals).
However, I noted several improvement opportunities. First, I encountered challenges when dealing with children and adolescents since I lacked experience with this patient population. For instance, I encountered problems in interviewing children with ADHD due to short attention spans. Although children do not provide comprehensive history, I enquired about information from their parents or caregivers (Srinath et al., 2019). I also encountered challenges with complex ethical issues relating to patients resisting care delivery. However, my preceptor and colleagues offered the necessary support to overcome this challenge (Preparation and Completion of SMART Goals).
Develop 3–4 new SMART goals for this quarter and the tasks you need to complete to accomplish each goal. Include a timetable for accomplishing them and a description of how you will measure your progress. The goals and the tasks will be instrumental in monitoring my progress and efficiency, while the timetable will ensure I complete the tasks at the designated time.
Goal 1; I will study the assigned weekly readings from the course materials, as well, the Psychiatric Interview to prepare for the examination.
- Task 1; Moreover,I will create a study timetable and assign specific hours to the readings’ topic.
- Task 2; I will involve my preceptor by asking questions to gain a deeper understanding of the readings.
Goal 2; Consequently, I will study The Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification Review Manual required for NRNP 6665 (Preparation and Completion of SMART goals).
- Task 1; Also,I will follow the weekly readings for the course.
- Task 2; I will review chapters assigned for specific weeks.
Goal 3; Further, I will create a list of my strong areas.
- Task 1; I will write down one strength each week.
- Task 2; Consequently, I will use the weekly reading assignments to discover new strengths.
Goal 4;Moreoer, I will make a list of areas that need improvement (Preparation and Completion of SMART goals).
- Task 1; I will write one weakness each week.
- Task 2; I will utilize the weekly readings to overcome the identified weaknesses.

How to Measure Progress
The timetable and the goals will be vital to measure progress by monitoring the tasks I must complete daily or weekly. By accomplishing my daily and weekly tasks, I will move a step closer to achieving my ultimate goal. I will use the timetable to ensure I do not miss any deadlines for completing the set tasks. Consequently,I will also use my assignments’ grades and my preceptor’s and instructors’ feedback to measure my progress. I will use the feedback to make adjustments to improve my performance. I will also make a checklist of things I need to accomplish to keep my focus in check (Preparation and Completion of SMART goals).
Describe resources you would use to accomplish your goals and tasks
I will utilize various resources to accomplish my goals and tasks. First, “The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Review Manual” is a vital study resource required to improve comprehension of various topics (Zakhari, 2020). I will also use “The Psychiatric Interview” to learn mnemonics such as DIGFAST for manic patients with bipolar disorder and SIGECAPS for depression (Preparation and Completion of SMART goals).
Further,I will also use my preceptor and instructor to gain guidance and a deep understanding of the health and related ethical issues of clients. I will form study groups with my colleagues to help me overcome my areas of weakness. I will use online scientific databases such as Google Scholar to learn important topics in preparation for my final examination (Preparation and Completion of SMART goals).
