This is part 2 of your evidence-based practice project.
In this assignment, you will refer to the topic you selected for your evidence-based practice problem from the identified list of topics provided by your course faculty in week 1 and the threeresearch articlesselected from your week 2 assignment.
For this assignment, you must complete a matrix table for three research articles (see template provided below). You will be identifying the following to complete the table: Articles/reference (in APA format), Purpose of the article/Study question, Variables (i.e. independent vs dependent), Study design: Quantitative/Qualitative/Mixes, Sampling, Methods, Instruments, Findings/Result.
You will be identifying the concepts being explored in the study “what” of the study, the methods or the “how” of the study, participants in the study or the “who,” along with the instruments/tools used in the study to collect data, i.e., surveys, interviews, etc. Lastly, you will state the findings of the study.
Remember, the studies should support your ideas and should be less than five (5) years old. They should not be from the Web, but from the library databases. Use the resources found in the library.
In addition, you must follow APA 7thedition guidelines when documenting the reference in the first column.
Please use, at minimum three scholarly references (primary sources only) for this assignment. Provide the full-text link for each of these primary sources.

Mackie, B. R., Mitchell, M., & Marshall, A. P. (2019). Patient and family members’ perceptions of family participation in care on acute care wards. Scandinavian Journal of Caring Sciences, 33(2), 359-370.https://doi.org/10.1111/scs.12631 | To explore patients’ attitudes and beliefs towards family members’ involvement in their care. It also aimed to identify nurse attitudes hindering or supporting the involvement of family members in hospice care.(Evidence-based practice Essay Example) | The independent variables were the beliefs and attitudes of family members, patients, and nurses. The dependent variable was family involvement in patient care. | Qualitative | Participant observation data and Semi-structured interviews. | Descriptive statistics | NVivo Software | Disconnected communication reduces family involvement in hospice patient care. Quality of family influence, like the ability to offer rock support and keep watch of the patient’s needs, determine their involvement in patient care.(Evidence-based practice Essay Example)
Walshe, C., Barnes, H., Turner, M., & Hughes, S. (2021). Constructing a new role for family carers and volunteers providing care towards the end of life: an action research approach exploring a new model of hospice care. Health & Social Care in the Community, 29(3), 837-845.https://doi.org/10.1111/hsc.13315 | To identify a strategy for conceptualizing and developing a new way of caring for patients in cottage hospice settings while incorporating the responsibilities of family carers and volunteers.(Evidence-based practice Essay Example) | Independent variables were family carers and volunteer caregivers. Dependent variable was the quality of life. | Qualitative | Purposive sampling | Thematic analysis | NVivo software | The study identified three overarching themes for hospice care. They include planning cottage hospice care aimed at increasing family and patient engagement. The second theme focused on creating a role for family caregivers to incorporate support from friends and family members. Lastly, the third theme emphasized quality and safety issues, which depend on the feelings of patients, family members, and caregivers about the model of care.
Bakitas, M. A., Dionne-Odom, J. N., Ejem, D. B., Wells, R., Azuero, A., Stockdill, M. L., … & Pamboukian, S. V. (2020). Effect of an early palliative care telehealth intervention vs usual care on heart failure patients: the ENABLE CHF-PC randomized clinical trial. JAMA Internal Medicine, 180(9), 1203-1213.10.1001/jamainternmed.2020.2861 | How does early palliative telehealth care, compared to the usual care, impact a patient’s mood and quality of life based on heart failure for 16 weeks? | The dependent variable is heart failure. Independent variable is telehealth intervention. | Quantitative | Purposive sampling | Descriptive statistics | Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire [KCCQ], Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy–Palliative-14 [FACIT-Pal-14], and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale [HADS]. | There was a 3.9 points improvement in the intervention group compared to 2.3 points in the usual care group based on the KCCQ score. There were also improvements in the FACIT-Pal-14 score for the intervention group (1.4 points) compared to the usual care groups (0.2 points). Lastly, group differences were limited, with HADS-anxiety at 0.02 and HADS depression at 0.09.(Evidence-based practice Essay Example) |
