VARK ANALYSIS PAPER

Assessment Description

Learning styles represent the different approaches to learning based on preferences, weaknesses, and strengths. For learners to best achieve the desired educational outcome, learning styles must be considered when creating a plan. Complete “The VARK Questionnaire,” located on the VARK website, and then complete the following:

  1. Click “OK” to receive your questionnaire scores.
  2. Once you have determined your preferred learning style, review the corresponding link to view your learning preference.
  3. Review the other learning styles: visual, aural, read/write, kinesthetic, and multimodal (listed on the VARK Questionnaire Results page).
  4. Compare your current preferred learning strategies to the identified strategies for your preferred learning style.
  5. Examine how awareness of learning styles has influenced your perceptions of teaching and learning.

In a paper (750-1,000 words), summarize your analysis of this exercise and discuss the overall value of learning styles. Include the following:

  1. Provide a summary of your learning style according the VARK questionnaire.
  2. Describe your preferred learning strategies. Compare your current preferred learning strategies to the identified strategies for your preferred learning style.
  3. Describe how individual learning styles affect the degree to which a learner can understand or perform educational activities. Discuss the importance of an educator identifying individual learning styles and preferences when working with learners.
  4. Discuss why understanding the learning styles of individuals participating in health promotion is important to achieving the desired outcome. How do learning styles ultimately affect the possibility for a behavioral change? How would different learning styles be accommodated in health promotion?

Cite to at least three peer-reviewed or scholarly sources to complete this assignment. Sources should be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria.

VARK ANALYSIS PAPER-Sample Solution

The VARK Questionnaire is an instrumental tool utilized to determine an individual’s learning styles while providing vital suggestions concerning suitable learning strategies. Students also use different learning styles to describe how they acquire, comprehend and recall knowledge. The VARK model was developed in 1987 to assess and offer crucial learning preferences (Padmalatha et al., 2022). Notably, VARK is an acronym for four main learning styles, namely, visual, aural, read/write, and kinesthetic. The paper aims to summarize my VARK results, compare the preferred learning strategies to the identified ones and provide the influence and awareness of the different learning styles for learning and teaching.(VARK ANALYSIS ESSAY SAMPLE)

My Learning Style Summary Results

Following completing the VARK Questionnaire, the visual score was four, aural 11, read/write eight, and kinesthetic 10. I prefer kinesthetic and visual learning styles to imply that I use a multimodal style to acquire knowledge. Multimodal learners use more than one learning style to imply that they have a single learning style preference that surpasses the rest. Depending on the learning environments, multimodal learners combine different methods to maximize their ability to learn.(VARK ANALYSIS ESSAY SAMPLE)

Preferable Learning Strategies

Specific learning styles are more effective than others styles. I prefer kinesthetic and visual learning styles. I prefer kinesthetic learning as it uses previous practical experiences making the learning relatable. Kinesthetic learning allows me to value my experience by completing a practical task or demonstration. Of importance, kinesthetic learning allows for trial and error by encouraging hands-on application through simulations. The practical application uses real-life examples or experiences, making the learning process more relatable. A practical example of this learning style entails attending a lecture discussing a scenario one has experienced practically or using the plastic model to feel and touch the described situation. Subsequently, visual learners use diagrams, maps, and charts and use symbols and colors to gain a visual representation of words. This style’s most common preferred learning strategies entail highlighting and underlining subjects with varying colors to break down and categorize complex topics. A practical example of this learning style entails using a map with causes, symptoms, and interventions to break down a disease like pneumonia.

On the contrary aural learners use listening, talking, discussion, and recall strategies to acquire knowledge. The strategy allows the learners to express their thoughts and ideas and ask questions for more clarification. A practical example of this style entails attending a discussion where individuals listen to others and are later allowed to contribute or ask questions on the subject matter. Read/write learners use notes, lists, and printed text to learn. Teachers and students mainly adopt this read/write learning style. Read/write learning strategies are used when making a shopping list or even reading a handout on how to write an apology letter for being late for class.(VARK ANALYSIS ESSAY SAMPLE)

Learning Styles

Awareness of appropriate learning styles makes it easier to acquire and understand information. Educators and learners should prioritize learning styles that improve their learning experiences. For instance, educators should analyze and adopt styles that meet the individual learners’ preferences and demands (Kaur, 2019). By so doing, the educators can prepare learning materials and lessons depending on the students’ needs. When the students are offered an opportunity to learn through their preferred styles, they can quickly learn and understand what is being taught, thus improving their academic performance.

.           Effective healthcare promotion requires healthcare professionals to understand their patients’ learning preferences. Understanding the different learning styles allows the health care professional to offer health promotion depending on the patients’ needs (Zhu et al., 2018). For instance, nurses should use learning styles that individual patients can understand and implement to improve their health status. Kinesthetic learning ensures that patients relate to health care issues. Read/write strategies can be used on patients that can read and write. Visual strategies are used in patients who can interpret symbols/gestures but cannot speak. Patients with mental health conditions can engage in aural learning styles to discuss and share important issues affecting their health.(VARK ANALYSIS ESSAY SAMPLE)
