How Would You Characterize the 1920s as a Decade

The 1920 decade was characterized by change; it began with a blast and ended up in a crash. The decade started with the last American troops coming home after Word War 1 in Europe. The soldiers came looking for their family, friends, and job opportunities. They had never been far from home for war until Word War 1. Immigrants from all over the world flooded into the United States during the decade to look for more opportunities and better living standards. Thus, some White Americans revolted and practiced racial and ethnic segregation against the minority immigrants leading to a cultural war[2]. The mentioned factors also led to the rise of white supremacists (the Ku Klux Klan) that claimed to protect American values against minority immigrants. In this case, more resentment by Whites led to the formulation of strict immigration laws that discriminated against African, Asian, and Eastern European immigrants over white immigrants from Northern Europe and Britain.(Laura-Spinney’s Pale Rider EssayExample)
