Among the 12 states in the US that restrict NP\u2019s practice, California is the only Western State with the red shade. In addition, the NP relies on the state board practice act for direction. However, Governor Gavin Newsome granted the NP\u2019s Full Practice Authority (FPA) through bill AB-890 into the legislature. On Sept 29, 2020, the AB-890 bill received the Governor\u2019s assent, and its effective date is January 2023, a move that will make California the 23rd country in the US to give NP\u2019s FPA (California Board of Registered Nursing, 2021).
